Aspira Education is recruiting an English Teacher to join a specialist school in Oxford from 3rd September.
This is initially a minimum 6-week placement, covering a member of staff on long-term sick leave. There is a strong possibility that the placement could be extended depending on the school's requirements.
We're looking for a confident and adaptable teacher who can step into an established setting, provide consistency for pupils and deliver engaging English lessons throughout the cover period.
The role
You will be responsible for:
- Planning and delivering engaging English lessons
- Teaching pupils across the required ability levels
- Adapting lessons and resources around individual learning needs
- Maintaining consistency and structure within the classroom
- Supporting pupils to remain engaged with their learning
- Managing behaviour positively and effectively
- Assessing and monitoring pupil progress
- Working alongside Teaching Assistants and wider support staff
- Following existing schemes of work and school expectations
- Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare
- Providing a stable classroom environment throughout the cover period
Who we're looking for
We're interested in hearing from qualified teachers who are confident working with pupils who may require a more individualised approach to education.
You should be:
- A qualified teacher with QTS or a relevant recognised teaching qualification
- Confident teaching English
- Calm, adaptable and resilient
- Comfortable differentiating lessons for different abilities
- Able to build positive relationships with pupils
- Confident with classroom and behaviour management
- Reliable and able to commit to the full initial cover period
- Committed to safeguarding and supporting positive outcomes for young people
Previous SEND or specialist-school experience would be beneficial, although we're also interested in strong mainstream English teachers who are motivated to develop their specialist experience.
