Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our childcare centre. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for early childhood education and child development. This role offers an opportunity to lead a team of childcare professionals, ensure the highest standards of care, and foster a nurturing environment for children. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining organisational efficiency, supporting staff, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. A valid driving licence is desirable to facilitate local travel as required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the nursery team, including staff recruitment, training, and performance appraisals
- Develop and implement educational programmes aligned with early childhood development principles
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and Ofsted standards
- Oversee daily operations, including enrolment procedures, parent communication, and administrative tasks
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes learning and well-being for children aged from infancy to preschool age
- organise staff rotas to ensure adequate coverage during operating hours
- Maintain strong relationships with parents and carers, providing updates on children's progress and addressing concerns promptly
- Monitor nursery budgets and resources to ensure efficient utilisation
- Keep up-to-date with developments in early childhood education and childcare legislation
Skills
- Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting
- Extensive knowledge of early childhood education practices and child development stages
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to motivate and inspire a team of childcare professionals
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Experience working directly with children and understanding their individual needs
- Valid driving licence to facilitate local travel between nursery sites or community events (nice-to-have)
- Childcare qualifications recognised by relevant authorities (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent)

Pay: £25,627.61-£45,658.93 per year
