Chobham & West End Surgery is a friendly and patient-focused GP practice committed to delivering high-quality care to our local community. We are seeking a motivated and reliable Phlebotomist to join our clinical team.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a safe, efficient, and compassionate phlebotomy service to our patients. You will work closely with GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants, and administrative staff to support the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform venepuncture procedures for patients of all ages in accordance with practice policies and procedures.
- Ensure accurate patient identification and specimen labelling.
- Prepare, handle, and process blood samples for transportation to the laboratory.
- Maintain accurate clinical records using the practice clinical system.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of phlebotomy supplies and room stocking
- Adhere to infection prevention and control policies.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
- Provide a professional, courteous, and reassuring service to patients.
- Participate in mandatory training and continuing professional development.
Person SpecificationEssential
- Previous phlebotomy experience within a healthcare setting.
- Recognised phlebotomy training
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection requirements.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience working within General Practice or Primary Care.
- Knowledge of GP clinical systems such as EMIS Web .
- Basic Life Support training.
