About The Blackened Teeth
The Blackened Teeth is an independent gothic homeware brand creating distinctive wall décor, lighting, ornaments and sculptural pieces. Our products are designed and produced from our premises in South Wales and sold to customers worldwide.
We are looking for an experienced 3D Product Modeller or Digital Sculptor to join our creative and production team.
The role
You will take finished 2D product designs supplied by our Creative Director and translate them into accurate, production-ready 3D models.
Our designs are highly decorative and often include sculptural figures, anatomy, animals, ornate frames, botanical details, lettering and bas-relief elements. You will need to interpret the supplied artwork faithfully while resolving depth, form and construction so that each design works as a physical product.
This is primarily a 3D modelling and digital sculpting role. The overall product concepts and creative direction will be supplied, although we value someone who can confidently solve technical problems and make considered recommendations during the modelling process.
Key responsibilities
- Translate supplied 2D artwork and product concepts into detailed 3D models.
- Create bas-relief wall plaques, freestanding ornaments, lamp components and other decorative products.
- Maintain the proportions, character and key details of the original designs.
- Develop suitable depth, contours and surface detail where these are not fully shown in the 2D artwork.
- Prepare clean, watertight models suitable for 3D printing and physical production.
- Consider mould-making, resin casting, wall fixings, assembly and production limitations while modelling.
- Identify potential issues such as fragile details, severe undercuts, uneven thicknesses or difficult mould separations.
- Make revisions following feedback from the Creative Director and production team.
- Work across several products while meeting agreed development deadlines.
- Maintain organised files and accurate version control.
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience in digital sculpting or detailed 3D product modelling.
- A portfolio demonstrating organic, ornamental or character-based modelling—not solely architectural or hard-surface CAD work.
- The ability to accurately interpret 2D illustrations and translate them into convincing three-dimensional forms.
- Excellent attention to proportion, symmetry, depth and fine surface detail.
- A good understanding of mesh quality and preparing models for 3D printing.
- Confidence working independently from a supplied design and responding constructively to feedback.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills.
Experience with resin casting, mould-making, manufactured décor or production-ready sculpting would be highly advantageous.
Software
Applicants should be highly proficient in software such as ZBrush, Blender, Nomad Sculpt or an equivalent professional 3D modelling and sculpting package.
