The Role
We're looking for an experienced, commercially minded Credit Controller to take full ownership of our receivables function on a part-time basis. This is not a junior role — we need someone who can hit the ground running, manage a substantial ledger, and bring discipline and professionalism to our collections process from day one.
You'll work closely with our bookkeeper and senior leadership to significantly reduce aged debt, establish robust credit control procedures, and build strong client relationships to ensure timely payment — without damaging the partnerships that underpin our business.
Remote working is fully supported, with occasional visits to our Bellshill or Ballycastle offices as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the full sales ledger and debtor book
- Proactively chase outstanding invoices by phone, email, and letter in line with agreed procedures
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve invoice queries quickly and accurately
- Produce regular aged debt reports and present progress to management
- Set and monitor credit limits in line with company policy
- Liaise with operations and account management teams to resolve billing disputes
- Maintain accurate records of all customer communications and payment commitments
- Support the implementation of improved credit control processes and systems (Xero-based)
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on credit control experience, ideally in a B2B environment
- Proven track record of reducing aged debt and improving DSO
- Strong communicator — confident on the phone, professional in writing, and skilled at handling difficult conversations with tact
- Experience working with Xero or similar cloud accounting software
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to manage a high volume of accounts independently with minimal supervision — particularly important given the remote nature of the role
- A team player who understands that collections is as much about relationships as it is about process
- Experience in transport, logistics, or construction sectors would be an advantage but is not essential
What We Offer
- Competitive salary of £28,000 – £35,000 FTE, pro-rated to days worked
- Flexible part-time working across 2–3 days per week
- Has the potential to become full time as the company grows
- Remote working with the freedom to manage your own diary
- A key role in a growing, ambitious business with real influence over how the function develops
- A close-knit, supportive team environment
This role is ideal for candidates who are organised, proactive, and possess excellent interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will play a vital part in maintaining healthy cash flow and fostering positive client relationships within our organisation.
Pay: Up to £30,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Additional leave
- Company pension
- Flexitime
- Work from home
