About Us
Our tea rooms are proud to support our animal charity, with all proceeds helping to provide care, rehabilitation and a better future for animals in need. We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Cook & Baker to join our team on an ad hoc basis, providing cover during busy periods, holidays, special events and staff absences.
Role Purpose
To prepare and serve high-quality homemade food and baked goods while maintaining excellent food hygiene standards. The successful candidate will help create a welcoming experience for our customers and support the charity’s mission through their work.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a range of homemade meals, light lunches and daily specials.
- Bake fresh cakes, scones, traybakes and other sweet treats for the tea rooms.
- Ensure food is presented to a high standard.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and food safety practices in accordance with current regulations.
- Monitor stock levels and report items that need replenishing.
- Assist with menu planning and seasonal baking ideas where appropriate.
- Work efficiently both independently and as part of the tea room team.
- Provide friendly, professional customer service when required.
- Support fundraising events and special occasions by preparing food and baked goods.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in cooking and baking, preferably within a café, tea room or similar environment.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety regulations (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Flexible and dependable, with availability to work at short notice when required.
- A passion for homemade food and baking.
- An appreciation of and commitment to supporting the work of our animal charity.

Hours
This is an ad hoc, flexible role with hours offered as required to cover holidays, sickness, busy periods and special events. Some weekend working may be required.
