About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and versatile Maintenance Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in building maintenance and be confident carrying out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks across our properties and sites.
This is a hands-on role requiring a practical, customer-focused approach, with the ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team. You will be responsible for completing maintenance works to a high standard, within agreed timescales and in line with relevant health and safety requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will carry out a variety of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, including:
- General building repairs, including roofing and cladding
- Plumbing repairs and maintenance
- Joinery and carpentry works
- Tiling
- Painting and decorating
- Carpeting and flooring repairs
- Paving works
- Drainage works
- Grounds maintenance and site clearance
- Site pressure washing
- Furniture assembly
- Furniture removal
- Identifying and reporting any additional maintenance requirements
- Completing work records accurately, including materials used and associated expenditure
- Ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a building trade or property maintenance environment
- NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating
- Proven experience in cladding and roofing
- A full UK driving licence
- The ability to work independently and use initiative, as well as work effectively as part of a team
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise workloads to meet in-house KPI and SLA timescales
- Competence in using IT systems to record completed works, materials and associated expenditure
- A good understanding of health and safety procedures, including identifying hazards and completing point-of-work risk assessments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders while minimising disruption
- A flexible and positive approach to a varied workload
- A strong commitment to delivering quality workmanship and excellent customer service
