Job Overview
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Assistant Manager to join our team here at The Wick Inn.
Working closely with the General Manager, you will help lead the day-to-day operation of the pub, ensuring our customers receive excellent customer service and that the team is supported, motivated and working efficiently.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy pub environment, takes pride in delivering great hospitality and is ready to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the General Manager with the daily running of the pub
- Lead and motivate the team during shifts, ensuring high standards of service are maintained
- Provide a warm, welcoming and enjoyable experience for every customer
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cash handlings and security checks
- Help manage staff rotas, breaks and day-to-day staffing requirements
- Train, support and develop team members
- Monitor and maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and health & safety
- Ensure licensing and company procedures are followed at all times
- Assist with stock management, ordering and deliveries
- Help control wastage, costs and stock levels
- Deal confidently and professionally with customer queries and complaints
- Support the General Manager with promotions, events and other activities to drive sales
- Take responsibility for the pub in the manager's absence
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in a pub, bar, restaurant, or hospitality environment
- Has supervisory or management experience
- Is confident leading a team and making decisions
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills
- Can remain calm and organised during busy periods
- Has a positive, hands-on approach and leads by example
- Is reliable, flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
- Understands the importance of cleanliness, health & safety and responsible alcohol service
- Is passionate about hospitality and creating a great atmosphere for customers and colleagues

Pay: £25,480.00-£32,760.00 per year
