Best Choice Garage Doors Ltd is looking for an experienced and highly organised Stock Controller to join our busy manufacturing operation in Newtownbutler.
This is an important role within the business, with responsibility for ensuring the correct stock is available when required while avoiding unnecessary overstocking.
The successful candidate will need to be organised, forward-thinking and capable of taking ownership of stock levels, purchasing and stock accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Forecast supply and demand to maintain appropriate stock levels
- Ensure sufficient stock is available to meet manufacturing requirements
- Place supplier orders in sufficient time, taking account of usage, lead times and expected demand
- Monitor stock levels and identify potential shortages before they affect production
- Monitor supplier lead times and incoming shipments, taking early action to prevent avoidable stock shortages
- Follow up with suppliers regarding outstanding orders and delivery dates
- Oversee the receipt, checking, inspection and correct storage of incoming stock
- Maintain accurate stock records
- Carry out regular stocktakes and investigate stock discrepancies
- Ensure stock is correctly organised and easy to locate
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient stores/warehouse area
- Liaise closely with production and management regarding stock requirements
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate must:
- Have previous experience in stock control, inventory management, stores, purchasing or a similar role
- Display excellent organisational and forward-planning skills
- Be capable of managing stock levels independently and taking responsibility for stock accuracy
- Be able to prioritise and adapt quickly to changing requirements
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Be confident communicating with suppliers
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using computer-based systems
- Have a good understanding of workplace Health & Safety
- Be physically capable of carrying out the duties associated with a busy manufacturing stores environment
- Be dependable, accurate and able to work with minimal supervision
Experience using, improving or implementing modern computerised stock and inventory management systems would be a significant advantage.
Salary & Bonus
£35,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on bonus and experience.
A performance-related bonus will be available, based on areas including stock accuracy, maintaining appropriate stock levels and effective forward planning to prevent avoidable shortages.
Potential for an enhanced bonus package for a candidate who can successfully help further develop, modernise or improve our existing stock management systems and processes.
