Pub Manager Wanted
Location: Portsmouth area | Salary: Competitive, depending on experience | Hours: Full-time
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Pub Manager to lead the day-to-day running of our busy, friendly pub. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about hospitality, enjoys creating a welcoming atmosphere, and has the confidence to motivate a team while delivering great service.
About the Role
As Pub Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the pub runs smoothly, safely, and profitably. You will oversee staff, stock, customer service, compliance, and daily operations, while helping to grow the business and maintain strong links with the local community.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead, train, and motivate the bar and front-of-house team.
· Deliver excellent customer service and create a warm, welcoming environment.
· Manage rotas, staffing levels, and day-to-day operations.
· Oversee stock control, ordering, cash handling, and cost management.
· Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety standards, food hygiene, and age-verification procedures.
· Handle customer feedback and resolve issues professionally.
· Support promotions, events, and community engagement to drive trade.
What We’re Looking For
· Previous experience in pub, bar, restaurant management.
· Strong leadership skills and the ability to get the best from a team.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Good commercial awareness, including sales, stock, and cost control.
· A hands-on approach and willingness to support the team during busy service.
· Knowledge of licensing responsibilities and health and safety requirements.
· A Personal Licence would be an advantage.
