Job Summary
We are seeking a professional HGV Driver Class 1 to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various locations. This role requires a high level of responsibility, excellent driving skills, and adherence to all safety regulations. The ideal applicant will have previous experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed deliveries, and possess a strong commitment to punctuality and customer service.
Duties
- Operate Class 1 HGV lorries, including flatbed vehicles, in compliance with all road safety laws and company policies
- Plan and execute delivery routes efficiently, ensuring timely arrivals at destinations
- Load and unload goods safely, using appropriate equipment and techniques
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and report any issues promptly
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery schedules or any unforeseen delays
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations during all aspects of driving and cargo handling
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with curtain side vehicles or similar equipment
- Strong driving skills with a clean driving record
- Knowledge of current road safety laws and regulations in the UK
- Excellent organisational skills to manage schedules and routes efficiently
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as loading/unloading cargo
- Good communication skills for liaising with clients and team members
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules or routes as required
