Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Legal Cashier to join our professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounts, and supporting the legal firm's financial operations. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a solid understanding of accounts payable processes. The Legal Cashier will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth financial functioning of our organisation, adhering to legal and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage and process all incoming and outgoing payments using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero
- Maintain accurate records of client and supplier accounts, ensuring all transactions are correctly documented
- Oversee accounts payable functions, including invoice processing and payment scheduling
- Reconcile bank statements regularly to ensure consistency with internal records
- Prepare financial reports and summaries for management review
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Ensure compliance with legal financial regulations and firm policies
- Support audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Cashier or Accountant within a legal or professional services environment is preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero is essential
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable procedures and financial reconciliation techniques
- Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to work independently whilst managing multiple tasks efficiently
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- A recognised qualification in accounting or finance is desirable but not essential
