Commissioning Engineer

Salary: £52,500 - £55,000 DOE

About the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a growing business specialising in Robotics and Automation, working on exciting projects for major blue-chip customers.
This is a varied, hands-on role involving the design, programme, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of advanced automation and control systems. The role will be mainly Siemens, with some Allen-Bradley, so strong Siemens experience is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, programme and implement PLC, SCADA and HMI control systems
- Commission, test and validate automated control systems and machinery
- Programme and modify Siemens PLC systems, predominantly using TIA Portal
- Work with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell control systems
- Develop and optimise automation processes to improve efficiency and reliability
- Troubleshoot and fault-find PLC, HMI, electrical and control system issues
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings and system documentation
- Support installation, system integration, upgrades and start-up
- Work closely with engineering teams, production teams and customers to resolve technical issues
- Carry out system testing, optimisation and customer handover
- Maintain and update schematics, technical documentation and commissioning reports
- Ensure all work complies with health, safety and relevant industry standards
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for innovation
About You
- Previous experience as a Commissioning Engineer, Controls Engineer or Automation Engineer
- Strong Siemens PLC programming and commissioning experience
- Experience with TIA Portal - Siemens' engineering/programming software.
- Some experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell
- Good electrical and controls knowledge
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read electrical schematics
- Experience working with automated machinery or industrial control systems
- Comfortable working on customer sites when required and travelling
- Flexible to work extended hours during commissioning periods
