Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Domestic Assistant to provide high-quality cleaning and organisational support within our College. Each Domestic Assistant is assigned specific areas or boarding houses and is expected to carry out cleaning duties in accordance with the College's cleaning schedules and required quality standards.
Duties
- Clean and maintain communal toilets, including toilets, sinks, floors, and replenishing consumables.
- Clean and maintain boarding house bedrooms and bathrooms on a scheduled rota, including showers, sinks, mirrors, tiles, paintwork, and fixtures.
- Vacuum, mop, dust, and sanitise bedrooms, communal areas, hallways, classrooms, offices, kitchens, and dining areas.
- Clean dining rooms after meal services, ensuring floors and surfaces are hygienic and presentable.
- Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, skirting boards, windowsills, door frames, pictures, pipes, and other high- and low-level surfaces.
- Empty waste bins in bedrooms, classrooms, offices, and communal areas, ensuring appropriate waste disposal.
- Clean and maintain staff offices, including desks, telephones, cupboards, and office furniture.
- Maintain kitchens by cleaning, tidying, and ensuring floors and surfaces meet hygiene standards.
- Ensure all assigned areas are kept clean, safe, and well-presented to support a comfortable boarding and learning environment.
- Replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies, such as toilet paper and other consumables, as required.
- Follow cleaning schedules, rotas, and health and safety procedures to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- Undertake additional cleaning and housekeeping duties as reasonably required to support the efficient operation of the boarding school.
Person Specification
- Ability to carry out general cleaning and housekeeping duties to a high standard.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Good time management skills with the ability to complete tasks efficiently.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under minimal supervision.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, with an understanding of relevant safeguarding legislation and guidance.

- Experience of undertaking general cleaning duties.
Pay: £14.24 per hour
