Chat Coffee House & Newsagents, Ground Floor, Belfast City Hospital (Lisburn Road, BT9)
Hours: 16-30 hours per week (depending on availability)
Pay Rate: Up to £12.71 per hour
About Us
We are a busy, friendly newsagents & coffee bar located on the ground floor of the Belfast City Hospital. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, a welcoming atmosphere and a well-stocked shop. We are looking for reliable and friendly Customer Assistants to join our small team.
Our location is exceptionally easy to commute to via public transport:
By train: We are located directly beside the City Hospital Train Station, making it perfect for anyone travelling on the local rail network.
By Bus: Multiple major Translink Metro bus routes (including the 9A, 9B & 9C Lisburn Road services) stop directly outside the hospital gates.
The Role & Hours
You will be the face of our shop and coffee bar, ensuring our customers leave happy. Our store operating hours are:
Monday-Friday: 7:00am-7:00pm
Saturday & Sunday: 9:00am-7:00pm
We offer flexible shift patterns across these hours, including early mornings, afternoons and weekends. Hours can be discussed at interview.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Greeting customers and providing a friendly, helpful service.
- Till Operation: Efficiently handling cash and card payments using the till.
- Coffee Making: Making barista style coffees & drinks which we will provide full training & support.
- Stock Management: Unpacking deliveries, restocking shelves and monitoring expiry dates on snacks and drinks.
- Merchandising: Neatly organising and displaying morning newspapers and magazines.
- Store Upkeep: Keeping the counter, shop floor and shelves clean, tidy and safe.
What We Are Looking For
- A friendly, polite and approachable attitude.
- Excellent communication and basic mathematical skills for handling cash.
- High reliability and punctuality (especially for early morning shifts).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Previous retail or customer service experience.
