Key Requirements (essential)
- Strong communication skills (including telephone communication)
- Prior warehouse experience with a strong work ethic
- Basic IT knowledge (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)

- Driven, adaptable, and keen to learn and develop
- Forklift truck license (preferred)
- Full UK driving licence
- Safety‑conscious, accurate, and able to work under pressure
- Basic equipment/machinery maintenance skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours to meet business needs
The Role
We are looking for a dependable, hardworking, and proactive Warehouse Operative to join our Barnsley flooring warehouse. This is a hands‑on, physically active role in a fast-paced environment where you will play a key part in ensuring smooth daily operations.
You’ll work closely with installation teams, office staff, site teams, and suppliers, supporting the full flow of goods in and out of the depot.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut, assemble, and prepare goods for delivery/collection, including operating carpet cutting machinery
- Check, measure, and quality-check jobs scheduled for dispatch
- Prepare jobs for subcontractor collection
- Keep internal systems and records up to date and accurate
- Place orders with suppliers for stock/ancillary items (via phone or email)
- Assist with stock control and inventory management
- Label stock and maintain organised storage systems
- Load/unload deliveries (manual handling and forklift) and store goods correctly
- Book in, check, and inspect delivered items, ensuring accuracy to specification
- File delivery paperwork appropriately
- Deliver materials to site and collect goods from suppliers when required
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe warehouse and yard
- Support maintenance of warehouse equipment, vehicles, and forklifts
- Operate baling equipment as required
- Provide holiday cover where needed, including 6am–2pm shifts and flexible hours
- Act as a building key holder – opening and closing the depot
