We are Peter O’Neill Services Limited, established in 1963 and have over 60 years’ experience in the heating industry. Our services include new boiler installations, servicing and maintenance of domestic heating appliances. We also have a fireplace showroom at our office based in Cwmbran. We are a family run business with a friendly environment and many of our employees have been working for the company for years.
We provide domestic central heating services to private customers and insurance companies.
We are recruiting a fully qualified full-time Domestic Gas Service and Maintenance Heating Engineer to mainly work within Torfaen, Cardiff, the Welsh Valleys, Monmouthshire, Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly areas.
The nature of the role will require you to travel within the South East Wales area. However, from time to time you may be expected to travel outside that area as the job role requires. Normal working hours are 08:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday.
The ideal candidate must have a knowledge of general heating systems and will be required to service, repair and fault find on Combi and system boilers. A sound knowledge and experience of working on a variety of domestic boilers is essential as we undertake work on a broad range of heating appliances.
We operate an emergency out of hours service so the employee must be willing to participate on the call-out rota during evenings and at weekends.
The employee will be dealing with our customers daily, as well as the team in the office, so must always be willing to be flexible, friendly, and co-operative.
Pay and Benefits
- Annual salary is £35,000 per annum. Additional income is available through working overtime and undertaking call-out.
- After working 37.5 hours in a week, time is paid at time-and-a-half.

- 28 days annual holiday entitlement increasing incrementally to a maximum of 33 days after seven years' continuous service.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements
- Experience within the domestic gas industry.
- Experienced in fault diagnosis, repairs and servicing on all types of domestic boilers.
- Natural gas qualifications and servicing and breakdown experience.
- CCN1/CENWAT/CKR1/HTR1.
- Central heating pipework and light installation work.
- Full UK driving license.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good level of English.
- To demonstrate good time management.
- Smartphone literate.
- Maintaining accurate worksheets and records/documentation associated with your work.
- Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its clients/customers or what you think may affect health and safety.
Preferred Skills
- Unvented hot water appliances.
- LPG OFTEC qualification.
- Some electrical knowledge would be advantageous.
- Experience in light commercial work.
Hours
- Full time. Usual hours are 37.5 per week, 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
- Overtime may be required, mainly during winter months.
- Call-out is required for maintenance customers and emergency insurance work. 1 day per week plus one Saturday/Sunday every 6 weeks.
