We are looking for an experienced, confident and highly organised Operations Manager to take a key role in the day-to-day running of our roofing company.
This is a varied and responsible position for someone who is comfortable managing people, organising the office, dealing with day-to-day operational issues and making decisions.
You will work closely with the company Director and will help ensure the business runs smoothly on a daily basis.
This is not simply an office administration role. We are looking for someone who can take ownership, manage people and situations confidently, and make sure things get done.
Key Responsibilities
The role will include:
- Overseeing the general day-to-day operations of the company
- Managing and organising the office and general administration
- Overseeing and directing our two Contracts Managers
- Making sure managers and staff follow through with their responsibilities
- Communicating with roofing operatives, supervisors and subcontractors
- Helping coordinate the workforce and day-to-day labour requirements
- Dealing with staff issues, holidays, absence and general personnel matters
- Organising Health & Safety training and maintaining training records
- Monitoring employee qualifications, cards and certificates and arranging renewals when required
- Assisting with general Health & Safety paperwork and ensuring required documentation is in place
- Dealing with telephone calls, emails, paperwork and company correspondence
- Helping deal with customer and operational issues
- Keeping company records and documentation organised
- Dealing with problems as they arise and taking ownership of finding solutions
- Making sensible day-to-day decisions without everything having to be referred to the Directors
- Helping maintain good communication between the office, Contracts Managers and site teams
- Ensuring high standards of organisation and professionalism throughout the business
- Generally assisting with whatever is required to keep the company operating efficiently
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, confident and comfortable taking responsibility.
You need to be able to deal professionally with different personalities and be confident giving direction when required, whether dealing with a Contracts Manager, office staff, roofer, labourer or subcontractor.
The right person will be someone who can see what needs doing, take ownership and follow it through.
You should be:

Experience
Previous experience within roofing, construction or another trade-based company would be a strong advantage.
Experience in operations management, construction administration, office management or managing site-based teams would also be beneficial.
You do not need to be a roofing expert, but you must be confident working within a construction environment and dealing with both management and site-based staff.
Salary
Salary is negotiable and will depend on experience and suitability for the position.
