We have a vacancy for a Trade Counter Technician at our Northampton Centre. Within this role, you will be expected to deliver a high level of customer service in operational and sales activities, ensuring customers receive a fast and efficient response to sales enquiries, building customer loyalty and enhancing the company’s reputation for service.
Key functions & responsibilities
Skills & competencies
Administrative support to the franchise principal
Answering the phone and helping the Centre Manager to control and direct the mobile engineers and vans
Always be well presented and use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as required
Assemble hydraulic hoses to customer requirements.
Assist with stock control, ordering and product sourcing
Proactively sell to both existing and new customers in order to meet and exceed sales and margin targets, and to continually work to build and develop the customer base at the branch
Accurate and regular order entry to help achieve minimum time delay between receipt of order and dispatch of goods, therefore maximising sales / stock turnover
Log and process jobs through the Pirtek IT system
Pro-actively promote Pirtek products and services to walk-in customers
Day to day operation of the sales counter area, ensuring it is kept clean, presentable, well stocked and merchandised at all times
Actively promote Pirtek products and services to Trade Counter customers
Abide by terms and conditions in your Employment Contract and Confidentiality Agreement
Authoritative and senior aptitude/approach to ensure systems and procedures are followed
A methodical and consistent approach
Good numeracy skills
Good organisational skills
Good communication skills both orally and written
Good telephone manner
Good computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word and Excel
A good understanding of computer accountancy software, preferably Sage or Xero
Always present yourself in a professional and courteous manner to all
Ability to work in a small organisation that expects a flexible work attitude
Ability to work in a ‘robust’ manual/engineering environment
No heavy lifting or other manual work is required
Work experience
Previous experience in a technical/engineering environment advantageous but not essential
Educational requirements
GCSE in English and Maths
