Job Purpose
The Football Pathways Officer will lead the development and delivery of Truro City Community Trust's football pathway, creating clear and sustainable progression opportunities from grassroots football through Development Centres into the Post-16 Academy and, where appropriate, Truro City FC's senior teams.
Working closely with Truro College, Truro City Football Club and community partners, the postholder will oversee player recruitment, coaching quality, player development and pathway management whilst ensuring every participant receives an outstanding football experience aligned with the Trust's philosophy and values.
The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing one of Cornwall's leading player development pathways.
Key Responsibilities
Football Pathway
- Lead the strategic development of the Trust's football pathway.
- Create and manage clear progression routes from Development Centres into the Post-16 Academy and senior football.
- Work collaboratively with Truro City FC, Truro College and external partners to maximise player opportunities.
- Continuously review and improve the effectiveness of the pathway.
Development Centres
- Manage all Development Centre provision across Cornwall.
- Coordinate administration, staffing, scheduling and programme delivery.
- Ensure sessions are delivered in line with the Trust's coaching philosophy and player syllabus.
- Monitor attendance, player retention and progression.
- Support, mentor and quality assure Development Centre coaches.
Player Recruitment & Talent Identification
- Lead recruitment into Development Centres and the Post-16 Football Academy.
- Organise and deliver annual player trials.
- Build relationships with grassroots clubs, schools and football organisations.
- Identify talented players and support their progression through the pathway.
- Develop an effective scouting and talent identification network across Cornwall.
Player Development
- Lead the player review process.
- Produce individual player reports and development plans.
- Monitor player performance throughout the season.
- Analyse progress against agreed objectives.
- Ensure development plans are reviewed and updated regularly.
Football Programme Delivery
- Deliver high-quality coaching across Community Trust football programmes.
- Support delivery within the Truro College Football Academy.
- Maintain consistently high coaching standards.
- Create positive, challenging learning environments.
- Organise fixtures, festivals and competitive opportunities for players.
Coaching Philosophy & Quality Assurance
- Lead implementation of the Trust's Football Philosophy and Player Development Syllabus.
- Ensure consistent coaching standards across every age group.
- Observe coaching sessions and provide developmental feedback.
- Deliver coach education and mentoring.
- Maintain quality assurance processes across all football provision.
Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Strengthen the partnership between Truro City Community Trust and Truro College.
- Build positive relationships with:

- National League Trust
- External football organisations
- Represent the Trust professionally at meetings, fixtures and community events.
Administration & Compliance
- Maintain accurate player records and programme data.
- Complete player reports and performance documentation.
- Support monitoring and evaluation requirements.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety and FA regulations.
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion throughout all activities.
- Undertake relevant CPD and maintain coaching qualifications.
General Responsibilities
- Act as an ambassador for Truro City Community Trust and Truro City FC.
- Work evenings and weekends when required.
- Travel throughout Cornwall to support football programmes.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
