Ludwick Precision is a specialist sheet metal manufacturing company providing high-quality precision components and assemblies to customers across a variety of industries. We utilise the latest laser cutting, CNC punching, press braking, welding and finishing technologies to manufacture complex sheet metal products.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a motivated Graduate Design & Manufacturing Engineer to join our Engineering Department and develop into a key member of our team.
Role Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate to gain hands-on experience in sheet metal manufacturing, CAD design, Design for Manufacture (DFM), and laser programming. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will help transform customer designs into efficient manufacturing solutions while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and modify 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings.
- Create flat patterns and DXF files for laser cutting.
- Prepare laser nests to maximise material utilisation.
- Review customer designs for manufacturability (DFM).
- Assist with engineering documentation and production support.
- Resolve technical queries from production teams.
- Maintain engineering records and drawing revisions.
- Support continuous improvement and standardisation projects.
- Work closely with Production, Estimating and Quality departments.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings.
- CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred), if not training provided..
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Applicants must be based within a reasonable commuting distance of Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
- Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing.
