Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager (live in) to lead the team and oversee the daily operations of Taychreggan Hotel, owned and operated by Eight Continents Hotels and Resorts under our 'Signature Collection' premium brand.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in management of similar properties, with a focus on high quality leisure business, maximising local F&B opportunities and growing the business as a exclusive wedding venue destination.
The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in driving sales growth both locally and nationally, maintaining an efficient cost base and ensuring operational excellence across all departments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve organisational goals and objectives.
- Lead, motivate, and supervise a diverse team to ensure high performance and engagement.
- Oversee daily operations, including sales, customer service, and administrative functions.
- Manage staff recruitment, training programmes, and performance appraisals to foster a productive work environment.
- Maintain excellent communication with staff, clients, Eight Continents corporate support team and other stakeholders to ensure clarity and organisational alignment.
- Organise schedules, optimise resource allocation, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Monitor sales targets and utilise management techniques and corporate support to maximise revenue streams.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations as well as organisational policies.
- Analyse business performance data to inform decision-making processes.
- Foster a positive organisational culture centred on teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Experience
- Proven management experience in a similar leisure/wedding environment
- Understanding and appreciation of the location
- Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to inspire teams towards common goals.
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail and efficiency optimisation.
- Demonstrated success in merchandising, sales strategies, and customer relations.
- Experience in administrative tasks such as reporting, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Proficiency in time management to prioritise tasks effectively under pressure.
- Previous experience in phone etiquette and professional organisational practices is desirable.
