Crossroads Care Slough is a small, long-established local charity supporting carers, families and people with care needs across Slough.
We are looking for kind, reliable and compassionate people to provide care and support in people’s homes and within the community.
You may already have experience in care, or you may be completely new to the role. What matters most to us is that you are genuinely caring, dependable and committed to treating people with dignity and respect. Full training will be provided.
About the role
Following each person’s individual Care Plan, you may support them with:
- Personal care and everyday tasks
- Preparing meals and encouraging hydration
- Medication prompts
- Companionship and emotional support
- Shopping and attending appointments
- Visiting parks, cafés, garden centres and community activities
- Supporting people to remain independent
- Providing short breaks for family carers
- Occasional waking-night or overnight support, when agreed
You will support people of different ages and with a range of needs. This is a varied, hands-on role in which your reliability and approach can make a genuine difference.
What we are looking for
You must be:
- Kind, patient, compassionate and respectful
- Reliable and able to attend visits at the scheduled time
- Able to communicate clearly in spoken and written English
- Comfortable completing straightforward care records
- Willing to follow Care Plans, policies and professional boundaries
- Willing to assist with personal care
- Able to work independently and use your initiative appropriately
- Willing to complete all required training
- Able to provide two satisfactory employment references
- Willing to complete an enhanced DBS check
You must also have:
- A full driving licence
- Regular access to your own car
- Business-use motor insurance, or be willing to obtain it
- The existing right to work in the UK
Previous paid care experience is helpful but not essential.

Working pattern
The role may include:
- Monday-to-Friday work
- Weekend work
- Daytime and evening visits
- Occasional waking nights or overnight support
- Additional cover during staff holidays or sickness
Hours will be discussed with suitable applicants based on their availability and the needs of the service.
