Job Overview
We are an established accountancy practice providing accountancy, bookkeeping, payroll, VAT and tax consultancy services to a varied portfolio of clients. We are looking for a motivated Accountant who is currently studying towards an ACCA or ACA professional qualification to join our team.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of senior accountants and partners, gaining practical experience across a broad range of accounting and taxation work.
Duties
- Assist with preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
- Maintain bookkeeping records and prepare bank reconciliations.
- Assist with preparation and submission of VAT returns and MTD records.
- Support preparation of Self-Assessment, Partnership and Corporation Tax (CT600) returns.
- Assist with weekly and monthly payroll, pensions, RTI submissions and statutory payments.
- Liaise with clients to obtain accounting records and resolve routine queries.
- Assist senior accountants with HMRC correspondence, tax queries and investigations.
- Support senior staff with tax planning and client advisory work.
- Ensure accounting, tax, VAT and payroll work is completed accurately and within required deadlines.
- Undertake other accounting and compliance duties under the supervision of senior accountants and partners.
Experience
- Proven experience working with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, VT Transactions Plus, Ignition and Virtual Cabinet is essential.
- Must be currently studying towards an ACCA or ACA qualification.
- Strong numerical, analytical and IT skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to learn and develop professional accounting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
