Join a Market-Leading British Manufacturer — Relationship-Led Sales, Not a Call Centre
At Hallmark Doors & Panels, we’ve spent over 30 years building a reputation for quality, reliability and service. Voted the UK's No.1 manufacturer of composite doors, UPVC and aluminium panels, we supply customers across the residential, trade and social housing sectors.
We’re now looking for an experienced Internal Sales Executive to join our team in Hull.
First things first: this is not a call centre.
You won't be sitting on an autodialler working through hundreds of numbers, reading from a script or being judged simply on how many calls you make.
This is a relationship-led B2B sales role within a close-knit commercial team.
You'll build genuine relationships with customers, understand their businesses, identify opportunities and keep in touch. Some conversations will result in immediate business; others may take weeks or months of professional follow-up.
That means we're looking for someone who is confident enough to pick up the phone, personable enough to build rapport and organised enough to make sure opportunities don't get forgotten.
You'll work under our Internal Sales Manager and Marketing Director, while collaborating closely with our Sales Representatives, Directors, Customer Service team and other departments across the business.
If you're looking for a varied commercial role where you're trusted to build relationships, develop specialist industry knowledge and make a genuine contribution to the growth of an established British manufacturer, we'd like to hear from you.
The Role
As an Internal Sales Executive, you'll help develop business across our existing, lapsed and prospective B2B customer base.
Our customers range from independent installers and small businesses through to trade counters, main contractors, councils and social housing organisations.
No two customers are exactly the same, and that's why we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all sales approach.
You'll be responsible for a mixture of:
- Developing relationships with existing customers and identifying opportunities to grow their business with Hallmark
- Proactively contacting prospective customers and generating new business
- Following up inbound sales enquiries and opportunities
- Re-engaging dormant and lapsed customers
- Following up quotations and maintaining contact with potential customers
- Working alongside our external Sales Representatives to develop customers and territories
- Following up customers after Sales Representative visits
- Helping identify and qualify opportunities for the wider sales team
- Arranging appointments and passing useful customer intelligence to Sales Representatives
- Maintaining accurate records of conversations, opportunities and future follow-ups within our CRM
- Distributing homeowner leads to appropriate installers
- Preparing, making up and posting marketing and sales packs
- Supporting sales and marketing activity as required
You'll work across telephone, email, Teams, Excel and spreadsheets, our bespoke internal CRM and our online door-design software.
It's About Relationships — Not Just Winning the Order
An important part of this role is understanding that sales doesn't finish when a customer places an order.
You'll help look after the whole customer relationship.
That means celebrating the wins, but also being prepared to have the more difficult conversations.
If a customer has a complaint or something hasn't gone to plan, you won't simply hand them off and disappear. You'll work alongside Customer Service and other departments to help resolve the issue, communicate professionally with the customer and protect the long-term relationship.
We're looking for someone who understands that good account management means being there when things go wrong as well as when they're going right.
We are a sales-driven business and we do measure performance.
We monitor areas including new customers, reactivated customers, sales activity and overall sales performance.
However, we don't believe good salespeople can be measured by a call counter alone.
The quality of the relationships you build, your ability to follow opportunities through, your contribution to sales growth and the way you work with customers and colleagues all matter.
We want someone who is commercially driven and enjoys winning business, while understanding that sustainable B2B sales comes from building trust over time.
Organisation Matters
Being personable on the phone is only part of the job.
You'll often speak to a customer today who needs contacting again next week, next month or further down the line.
We need someone who can document conversations properly, organise future actions and actually follow them through.
You'll be managing multiple conversations and opportunities at different stages, so accurate CRM records and good personal organisation are essential.
A great conversation means very little if nobody remembers to follow it up.
About You
We're looking for someone with a minimum of 2 years' experience in internal sales or a similar commercial/customer-facing role.
You'll need to be:
- Confident and professional on the telephone
- Comfortable proactively contacting customers and prospects
- Personable and able to build genuine B2B relationships
- Commercially minded and motivated by developing business
- Persistent without being pushy
- Resilient when conversations don't go your way
- Comfortable handling complaints and difficult customer conversations
- Highly organised and disciplined with follow-ups
- Accurate when recording customer information and activity
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Confident using email, Microsoft Excel, spreadsheets and CRM-style systems
- Able to work independently while contributing to a wider sales team
- Curious about customers and willing to understand how their businesses operate
- Professional and polite in the way you represent Hallmark
- Willing to muck in and get things done when the team needs it
Above all, you need to have the confidence to pick up the phone and start a conversation.
We're not looking for an aggressive salesperson. We're looking for someone who can develop professional relationships, spot commercial opportunities and keep those relationships moving forward.
Product & Technical Knowledge
You don't need to arrive knowing everything about composite doors, UPVC or aluminium panels.
We'll teach you.
Full product and system training will be provided, and you'll gradually develop detailed knowledge of our products, specifications, options and online door-design system.
Over time, we'll expect you to become a knowledgeable and confident commercial contact who can understand customer requirements and discuss our products professionally.
A willingness to learn the technical side of what we manufacture is therefore much more important than arriving with industry-specific knowledge.
Why Hallmark?
This role offers something different from a typical internal sales or telesales vacancy.
You'll be joining a long-established British manufacturer where you can:
- Build genuine, long-term customer relationships
- Work as part of a close-knit commercial team
- Have variety in your working day
- Work collaboratively with Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and senior management
- Develop valuable product and industry knowledge
- Take ownership of your conversations and follow-ups
- Contribute directly to the growth of the business
- Develop your career within an established and growing company
We believe in recognising people who perform well.
If you demonstrate reliability, initiative and make a strong contribution to the business, there is genuine potential to progress and develop within Hallmark.
Benefits
- Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm
- No weekends or night shifts
- Two weeks off over Christmas & New Year
- 22 days' annual leave + bank holidays
- Free on-site parking
- Full product and system training
- Long-term career and development opportunities
- Stable, permanent position with an established British manufacturer
Application Process
Please apply via Indeed.
We would ideally like applicants to include a cover letter telling us a little about your previous sales experience, the types of customers you've worked with and why this particular role appeals to you.
We're interested in finding the right person, not simply generating the highest number of applications.
If you're looking for a call-centre role where success means making as many calls as possible, this probably isn't the position for you.
But if you enjoy talking to customers, building relationships, developing business and taking responsibility for those relationships over the long term, we'd be interested in hearing from you.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to arrange an interview.
Strictly no agencies.
Pay: £29,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Company pension
- Free parking
- On-site parking
