Lead with purpose. Inspire change. Transform lives.
At North Tyneside Council, we believe great care starts with great people. Our Adult Social Care services are ambitious, forward‑thinking and deeply rooted in our communities, with a strong focus on quality, safety and efficiency. Our Reablement Service is proudly CQC‑rated GOOD, and we are committed to continually improving outcomes for the people we support.
We’re now looking for an exceptional Assistant Manager to help drive our therapy-led Reablement Service forward. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives on making a difference, inspires teams through change, and is passionate about delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care.
Why This Role Matters
Every day, our Reablement Service helps people regain confidence, rebuild independence and return home safely after illness or hospital admission. As an Assistant Manager, you’ll be right at the heart of this impact — shaping service quality, supporting staff to be their best, and ensuring our customers achieve meaningful outcomes.
This is a fast‑paced, rewarding and influential role within a therapy‑led service that places strengths, personal goals and dignity at the centre of everything we do.
Your Impact
As a key member of the leadership team, you will play a vital role in shaping a resilient, high‑performing and efficient service. This is a demanding but highly rewarding role, offering the opportunity to drive strategic development while maintaining hands‑on operational oversight.
You will:
-
Play a central role in maintaining and developing a CQC‑rated GOOD service, with continuous improvement at its core
- Deputise for the Registered Manager, providing confident, visible leadership in a complex and pressured environment
- Lead, motivate and support Scheduling Officers and Reablement Support Staff to deliver safe, effective and timely interventions
- Drive quality, safety and performance through audits, spot checks, supervision and robust quality monitoring
- Lead medication competency assessments and champion safe practice
- Ensure effective safeguarding arrangements to protect adults at risk
- Work closely with health and social care partners to support efficient and timely hospital discharge
- Embed a therapy‑led, strengths‑based approach that maximises independence and reduces re‑admission
- Contribute to the strategic development and future direction of the Reablement Service
- Represent the service professionally at internal and external meetings
- Ensure compliance with CQC standards, local policies and the Care Act 2014
Working Pattern
You’ll work on a rota basis, including weekends and Bank Holidays, between 7am and 10pm, helping ensure strong leadership, consistency and quality across the service.
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll be a compassionate, resilient and confident leader who can balance operational pressures with big‑picture thinking. You’ll bring:
-
At least two years’ experience in Adult Social Care
- Experience managing or supervising staff
- A Level 4 qualification in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards this
- A strong commitment to person‑centred, outcome‑focused practice
- The ability to inspire others, manage risk and lead with integrity
What We Offer
-
A leadership role within a high‑performing, CQC‑rated GOOD service
- A supportive, experienced management team
- A robust training and development programme to support your progression
- Free access to a wide range of learning opportunities
- The satisfaction of knowing your leadership directly improves people’s lives
Our Commitment
We’re committed to building an inclusive workforce that reflects our communities. We actively promote equality, value diversity and are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer, guaranteeing an interview to disabled candidates who meet the essential criteria.
