Role Title: Assistant manager
Reports to: General Managers
Department: All Centre
Location: Colchester
Role purpose: To assist General Managers with the daily operational running of the centre, managing and motivating the team, ensuring full compliance with health & safety requirements, creating a consistently excellent and “on brand” customer experience in all areas. To also assist in identification and implementation of business development opportunities to achieve commercial targets for the Centre. Need to have previous experience in a managerial role within the leisure industry as well as having knowledge of cafe responsibility and having Level 2 hygiene. The job includes weekend and weekday work.
Main responsibilities:
- Plan, organise and execute team and individual training sessions
- Carrying out daily & monthly safety checks on climbing equipment
- Ensuring the safe running of the Clip ‘n Climb arena in accordance with risk assessments and operating procedures
- Interacting and assisting with customers
- Working in conjunction with the management team to review and improve policies, procedures and systems.
- Working with the management team to develop on-going staff development and training
- Understand and support reception duties
- Support café duties when required
- Team leadership, providing ongoing management, coaching and development and monitoring team and individual performance
- Ensure successful implementation of, and adherence to all Centre policies and procedures
- Complete all relevant checks to ensure standards are maintained across the Centre
- Assist with scheduling and rota management
- Help to increase sales by finding new opportunities
- Fulfill key holder and security duties
- Complete opening and closing procedures as required
- Support all areas of the centre, as a point of escalation

Knowledge, skills and experience required:
· Demonstrable experience of team management
· Confidently carry out duties at heights of up to 8.5 metres
· Calm approach when working under pressure
· Ability to lead and motivate a team
· Able to demonstrate initiative and work unsupervised
· Open friendly manner with an ability to interact with a diversity of people
· Accuracy and attention to detail
· Willingness to be flexible and take on other duties in the centre
· Strong knowledge and experience of operations
· Excellent customer service skills
· Proficient Google Sheets and drive
· Excellent written and spoken (face to face and phone) communication skills.
· Excellent numeracy skills.
· Able to manage a varied workload, balancing scheduled tasks with requests for assistance from the team, which may have short deadlines
· Experience in executing health and safety procedures
· Able to manage complicated situations in a controlled manner
Qualifications required (if applicable):
· First aid certified
