SPC oversees firms and individuals (supervision), creates and reviews the rules by which they operate (policy) and identifies and remedies ineffective competition in markets (competition).
Sitting within the Specialist Directorate, our Technology, Resilience and Cyber (TRC) department works with financial firms to strengthen the resilience of their systems against cyber threats and operational disruptions – helping protect consumers, safeguard markets, and build trust in the technology that powers financial services.
Role responsibilities
Delivering high-quality support to Managers and the teams within the department, to ensure smooth and efficient operations, while building an effective network with Internal and external stakeholders to increase your reach across the department
Responsible for preparing agendas, coordinating briefings, managing meeting documents and actions, and overseeing inbox management by monitoring emails and following up on required actions
Maintaining and updating records in the FCA system to ensure regulatory compliance and data accuracy, while developing solid knowledge of various FCA systems
Contribute to busy, high-profile teams that play a significant role in the FCA’s operations, while developing your skills and gaining valuable insight into current thinking on cyber, technology, and operational resilience
Exhibits the ability to adjust to changing priorities and a forward-thinking, team-oriented approach to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines, ensuring smooth operations within a demanding, professional environment
Provide comprehensive support for the delivery of internal and external meetings and events, ensuring effective coordination and accurate record of key issues
Prepare documents and provide guidance to colleagues, while offering flexible support across the team, including covering responsibilities for the HoD’s PA and other PBS when required
Skills required
Minimum:
Demonstrated experience in a role which has required clear written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to cultivate and manage stakeholder relationships across all levels
Previous experience working in a high-pressure environment, combining effective organisational, prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to work in a structured way and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines
Demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality administrative support, including mailbox management
Essential:
Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Demonstrate ability to collaborate effectively within a team while maintaining the flexibility to manage own tasks and take initiatives
Ability to handle staff confidential and sensitive data with utmost discretion ensuring confidentiality is upheld at all times
Prior experience in a role that involves a high level of accuracy and attention to detail ensuring precision in all tasks
Demonstrate an interest and understanding in the FCA’s work, its operations, and the wider financial services sector
