Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activity Coordinator to enhance the quality of life for residents in our care facility. The successful candidate will organise engaging activities tailored to the needs of our residents, promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. Duties
- Plan, develop, and implement a diverse programme of activities suitable for residents with varying needs, including those requiring specialised dementia and Alzheimer's care
- Facilitate group and individual activities such as arts and crafts, music therapy, light exercise classes, and social events
- Collaborate with nursing staff to integrate activities into personalised care plans and ensure they align with medical and behavioural requirements
- Assist residents during activities, providing support with mobility or behavioural challenges as needed
- Monitor residents’ engagement levels and adjust programmes accordingly to maximise participation and enjoyment
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted and residents’ participation for reporting purposes
- Ensure the safety of all participants during activities, adhering to health and safety protocols including first aid procedures when necessary
- Coordinate transportation or driving arrangements for outings or external events as required
Skills
- Experience in nursing home or care home environments, particularly with senior care, dementia care or Alzheimer's care is highly desirable
- Knowledge of medication administration, behaviour management, and case management principles within a healthcare setting
- First aid certification is essential; additional medical training such as nursing or hospice care experience is advantageous
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan engaging programmes tailored to individual needs
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely when required for activity setup or equipment handling
- Competence in driving or transporting residents safely when necessary
- Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of care plans to support personalised activity programming
