To provide high quality clinical psychology services to adults with cancer referred to the oncology service at the RUH.
The holder of this post will be a Clinical Psychologist required to work clinically within the multidisciplinary team. They will hold a specialist caseload of patients, undertaking the more complex level 3 and 4 clinical assessments and interventions.
The post holder will work to improve the psychological health & wellbeing of people under the care of the oncology team, working alongside the Clinical Lead in ensuring the delivery of high-quality psychological support.
The post holder with receive regular professional and clinical supervision in accordance to Trust policy and to Professional Practice Guidelines set out by the British Psychological Society or appropriate designated Professional Body.
To work with both inpatient and outpatient adults with cancer, delivering evidence-based interventions in line with NICE guidelines and ensuring that the quality of treatment is maintained at the highest standard, facilitating innovative and therapeutic practice.
To provide expert psychological therapies in oncology services: developing specialist psychological assessments and formulations with patients and implementing specialist psychological interventions.
To communicate in a highly skilled and sensitive manner with clients who may have exhibit high levels of distress.
To provide advice, guidance and consultation on psychological aspects of patient care to colleagues, other service providers, patients, supporters and families.
To communicate with a wide range of health & social care staff within the hospital in a highly skilled and sensitive manner, delivering complex and sensitive information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under the service’s care.
To provide support & guidance in the application of psychological principles and techniques, and to foster reflective practice.
