SENDhelp is recruiting an experienced Secondary Special Needs Teacher for a specialist school in Leatherhead, Surrey.
The role involves teaching secondary-age pupils with additional learning needs, including pupils who may be working up to four years below age-related expectations.
Applicants must hold UK QTS and have previous SEN teaching experience. This is not suitable for teachers without relevant special educational needs experience.
The position would suit an experienced SEN Teacher or SEND Teacher who is confident adapting the curriculum, teaching across different ability levels and creating a calm, structured learning environment.
As a Secondary Special Needs Teacher, you will:

Plan and deliver engaging, accessible lessons

Adapt the secondary curriculum for pupils working below age-related expectations

Differentiate teaching across a range of abilities

Assess progress and adjust teaching accordingly

Support pupils' confidence, independence and engagement with learning

Maintain clear routines, expectations and classroom boundaries

Work closely with teaching assistants and other specialist staff

Follow individual education plans and agreed learning targets
Applicants must have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Previous SEN teaching experience

Confidence differentiating lessons for pupils working significantly below age-related expectations

Strong classroom management and communication skills

A patient, adaptable and consistent approach

A clear commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare

The ability to travel reliably to Leatherhead
Previous experience within a specialist SEN school would be particularly valuable.
