We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician to join our team in Hartlepool, reporting to the Section Manager, NDT (Operations).

The role offers a clear development pathway from trainee level through to Employer specific ISO 9712 Level 2 certification, with opportunities to progress into advanced NDT techniques such as Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) & Computer Radiography (CR)
Key duties include:
· Assist qualified NDT Technicians in carrying out inspection and testing of steel pipes
· Learn to apply scientific principles to identify subsurface flaws and material defects
· Support a range of NDT techniques, including:
o Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
o Radiographic Testing (RT)
o Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)
o Visual and dimensional inspection
· Operate and maintain NDT equipment under supervision
· Assist with calibration checks and routine equipment maintenance
· Complete basic documentation, reports, and data entry
· Work closely with production teams to ensure quality standards are met
· Support communication with client inspection representatives where required
· As experience develops, gain exposure to advanced and automated NDT inspection methods
Qualifications / Experience:
· Interest in engineering, inspection, or quality-related work
· Willingness to train towards ISO 9712 NDT certification
· Basic understanding of technical or mechanical processes (preferred but not essential)
· While not essential a solid foundation in mathematics will be highly beneficial for understanding and developing advanced techniques
· Good numerical and problem-solving skills
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
· Proactive and eager to learn
· Strong work ethic and reliability
· Good communication and teamwork skills
· Interest in developing a long-term career in Non-Destructive Testing
Pay: £29,201.00 per year
