Overview
We are seeking an energetic and commercially minded Club Steward & Events Manager to work with an elected committee of volunteers to promote a well established private members club. We need someone with the right personality, experience and skills to help to grow the business and increase the membership while ensuring a safe, welcoming and thriving social environment for members and guests. This is a hands on, front of house role, combining daily management and delivery of the food and beverage operation, as well as planning and organising social events and activities and driving essential revenue growth. We need someone with experience of hospitality management and proactive business development, excellent customer and communication skills and motivated to get the best from a small team of staff and volunteers.
Duties
- Manage, organise and deliver the daily bar and food services, ensuring that members, guests and visitors receive a warm welcome, prompt attention and a consistently high quality professional experience.
- Working closely with the catering manager to provide an appealing daily food menu, alongside creating bespoke catering packages for private events.
- Working with the Committee to plan a calendar of events and activities and actively market and sell the function space, meeting rooms and facilities for private bookings, member events and celebrations to drive profitability.
- Recruit, train, lead and motivate staff and volunteers to work as one team. Prepare staff rotas, intelligently using and managing club volunteers to supplement paid staff during peak periods and events.
- Carefully manage the balance between member only operations and outside hires, working within the legal framework governing private members' clubs
- Handle guest and booking enquiries, resolve issues promptly, and ensure a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors
- Maintain a safe, clean and fully compliant business environment ensuring strict adherence to health and safety and food hygiene laws
- Proven experience in hospitality management, business development, catering or a private club environment with a strong background in both bar and food service operations
- Evidence of successful business promotion and development to enhance revenue streams
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills for effective team leadership and customer interactions
- Strong financial awareness with a solid understanding of how to manage daily stock, wastage and cost controls
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and special events as needed
- Prior experience of managing staff and coordinating events is essential
Pay: £28,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
