£13.00 per hour + tips
Approx. 18 hours per week initially
Friday & Saturday evenings + Sunday daytime
Potential for additional hours / full-time position
The Legstraps is entering an exciting new chapter, with a brand-new Head Chef, new kitchen team and a completely refreshed food offering launching this October.
We’re looking for someone enthusiastic, dependable and willing to learn to join us from the very beginning.
For us, personality, work ethic and a can-do attitude matter more than having years of experience. Previous kitchen experience is definitely an advantage, but we’re equally interested in someone at the beginning of their career who has the right attitude, enjoys food and genuinely wants to develop their skills.
You’ll work closely alongside our new Head Chef and have the opportunity to learn, contribute ideas and become an important part of the kitchen as it develops.
Initial Hours
The role will initially be approximately:
- Friday: 4pm–10pm
- Saturday: 4pm–10pm
- Sunday: 11am–5pm
These hours and days are approximate and may vary slightly depending on bookings and business demand. This of course would be discussed at any point of change.
There is likely to be an increase in available hours during December as we move into the busy Christmas period, with additional shifts potentially available around functions, festive bookings and increased trade. As a result, this could turn into a full time position very soon.
We believe people should still get to enjoy the important bits of Christmas too — our kitchen does not open on Christmas Day or on New Year’s Eve evening.
Beyond the Christmas period, as the new food operation grows, there is scope for additional regular hours and the possibility of the position developing into a full-time role.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Working alongside and supporting the Head Chef during preparation and service
- Preparing and cooking fresh food to a consistently high standard
- Taking responsibility for tasks and sections as your experience develops
- Helping with preparation, specials and menu ideas
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and ready for service
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and food safety
- Getting stuck in with the wider kitchen workload when required, including occasional washing-up and general kitchen duties
We’re a small team, so everyone helps each other when needed.
Who We’re Looking For
Above everything else, we want somebody who:
- Turns up, works hard and can be relied upon
- Has a positive, can-do attitude
- Is keen to learn and improve
- Is happy to get stuck in rather than saying “that’s not my job”
- Works well as part of a small team
- Can stay calm and organised during busy services
- Takes pride in the food they send out
- Is friendly, approachable and easy to work with
Previous experience in a pub, restaurant or professional kitchen would be advantageous, but we’re more interested in finding the right person than the perfect CV.
This could particularly suit someone who has recently completed catering or culinary training and is looking for an opportunity to gain proper hands-on experience under an experienced Head Chef.
What We Offer
- £13.00 per hour
- Tips on top of your hourly pay
- Approximately 18 hours per week initially
- Likely additional hours available during December
- Potential to increase regular hours as the kitchen develops
- Opportunity for the role to become full-time
- No Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve evening kitchen service
- Staff food and employee discounts
- Free on-site parking
- A supportive, independent working environment
- Direct training and development alongside our Head Chef
- The opportunity to join a new kitchen team right from the beginning
- A workplace where your ideas and contribution will genuinely be noticed
This isn’t a large corporate kitchen where you’re just another name on the rota.
You’ll be joining an independent pub at the start of a major new chapter for its food offering, with the chance to learn, develop and make the role your own as the business grows.
If you’re enthusiastic, dependable and want to work somewhere that values attitude just as much as experience, we’d love to hear from you.
