Salary/Grade: Grade C Actual salary £16,365, based on FTE £25,186 Pay Award Pending
40 weeks per year (Term Time Only + 1 Week) Hours: 28 hours per week.
Permanent. Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 4:00pm (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)

Bridgemary School is seeking to appoint a dedicated School Receptionist to join our amazing administration and support team. As the first point of contact for parents, visitors, and students, the School Receptionist plays a crucial role in shaping the first impression of our academy. In this fast-paced and rewarding role, you will provide a welcoming, efficient front-of-house service and deliver high-quality administrative support that keeps our school running smoothly every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Front of House & Visitor Management:
Act as the professional and welcoming face of the school.
Greet all visitors, parents, and contractors, ensuring they are signed in correctly in line with safeguarding procedures.
Direct enquiries to the appropriate department or member of staff.
- Switchboard & Communication:
Manage the busy school telephone switchboard, handling incoming calls with courtesy, efficiency, and discretion. Take messages accurately and route calls to relevant staff members.
Assist students who come to reception with enquiries, late arrivals, or those feeling unwell, coordinating closely with our first aid and pastoral teams.
Support the wider school office with daily administrative tasks, including reprographics, copying and production of curriculum materials
Essential Criteria:
- Qualifications: A good standard of education (GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent).
- Experience: Experience working in a customer-facing, reception, or administrative environment.
- Skills & Knowledge: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm, welcoming, and professional under pressure.
Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Email) and excellent organizational ability.
A warm, approachable personality combined with absolute discretion, professional boundaries, and an understanding of confidentiality. Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working as a receptionist or administrator within a secondary school or educational setting.
- Knowledge of school safeguarding procedures and experience using school databases like SIMS or Arbor.
- A deep commitment to supporting the school community and improving the experience of our young people.
