WS Specialist Logistics is recruiting an experienced Yard Supervisor to join our transport operation based in Dalton Thirsk
This is a hands-on role within a busy logistics environment, responsible for the day-to-day control of yard operations, vehicle movements, and supporting the wider transport team.
Role Overview:
As Yard Supervisor, you will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of daily yard operations. This includes managing vehicle movements, shunting trailers, maintaining yard organisation, and supporting general transport activities. The role is varied and hands-on, ensuring the yard operates safely, efficiently, and to a consistent standard each day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising daily yard operations
- Shunting trailers and vehicles safely and efficiently
- Managing vehicle movements within the yard
- Washing and maintaining HGV vehicles and trailers
- Supporting trunking and general transport operations
- Carrying out yard and vehicle checks
- Ensuring the yard is kept organised, clean, and compliant with health & safety standards
- Supporting drivers and transport staff as required
Requirements:
- Previous experience within transport, logistics, or yard operations essential
- Shunting experience essential
- Full driving licence required
- Class 1 HGV experience essential
- FLT (Forklift Truck) Licence advantageous
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Reliable, steady, and professional approach to work
