This post is suitable for a Band 5 who is not SACT trained or a currently SACT chemotherapy nurse Band 6 with a period of training
Join our dedicated team at Oncology and Haematology Day Unit, based at St Margaret's Hospice Yeovil where we deliver
high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals affected by cancer across Somerset. We are a nurse led unit with excellent
patient feedback, providing specialist care to patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatments (SACT).
The Unit has 12 treatment chairs, a phlebotomy/PICC clinic and outpatient clinic rooms. We operate Monday to Friday
including bank holidays and offer clinical supervision and professional development. If you have the skills and experience,
we are looking for, come and be part of our committed team delivering exceptional patient care.
SACT/Chemotherapy experience is not necessary and these skills can be taught, you will be supported to complete the
UKONS SACT passport, and will be expected in time to undertake an accredited SACT module as part of this role.
You will require good communication skills, a team work approach and be able provide a high standard of nursing care with
the support of your team.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you'll play a vital role in providing evidence based care, supporting patients through their treatment journey, and working closely with a
multidisciplinary team. You'll also have the opportunity to develop specialist skills in Systemic Anti Cancer Treatment administration, PICC line management,
venepuncture and palliative care.
The ideal candidate will be chemotherapy competent and have extensive experience in caring for oncology or haematology patients, however training can be provided
for all of this for the right candidate. You'll be responsible for assessing patients' fitness for treatment, conducting toxicity assessments, administering SACT and
supportive treatments. As part of our supportive and forward thinking team, you'll provide expert oncology and haematology nursing services to patients, families and
health professionals.
You will contribute to education, training, quality improvement, audits and service development projects.
