Pure Planet Recycling is an award-winning recycling company specialising in the recycling of electrical equipment and the secure destruction of confidential data.
We work with businesses across the UK, collecting and processing a wide range of electrical and electronic equipment, including computers, servers, printers, televisions, refrigeration equipment and other commercial electrical waste.
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Warehouse/Recycling Operative to join our team and assist with the day-to-day operation of our recycling facility.
This is a varied, practical and physically active role involving the unloading, sorting, recording, dismantling and processing of electrical equipment. The successful applicant will also assist our collection teams at customer premises when required.
Key Responsibilities
Your daily duties will include:
- Loading and unloading equipment from 3.5-tonne box vans and other collection vehicles.
- Checking incoming loads against collection paperwork and reporting any damaged, missing or unexpected items.
- Sorting electrical equipment into the correct recycling, reuse and processing categories.
- Recording and identifying customer equipment accurately.
- Grading equipment to determine whether it can be reused, refurbished or recycled.
- Separating components and materials into the correct waste and recycling streams.
- Preparing pallets, equipment and materials for onward transport.
- Ensuring outgoing loads are packaged, labelled and secured correctly.
- Assisting drivers with collections from customer sites.
- Representing the company professionally when working at customer premises.
- Using pallet trucks and other warehouse equipment following appropriate training.
- Keeping the warehouse, yard and work areas clean, organised and free from hazards.
- Completing basic paperwork and electronic records accurately.
- Following company procedures relating to confidential data-bearing equipment.
- Reporting accidents, incidents, near misses, damaged equipment and potential hazards.
- Undertaking other reasonable duties to support the efficient operation of the recycling facility.
Health and Safety
You will be expected to:
- Follow all company health and safety policies and working procedures.
- Use safe manual-handling techniques when moving equipment.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment, including safety footwear, gloves and high-visibility clothing.
- Operate warehouse equipment only when appropriately trained and authorised.
- Keep walkways, fire exits and working areas clear.
- Immediately report any unsafe working practices, damaged equipment or potential hazards.

The role involves regular manual handling and the movement of items including computers, servers, printers, televisions, refrigeration equipment and other electrical equipment. Applicants must be able to carry out the physical requirements of the position, with reasonable adjustments where applicable.
Desirable Experience
The following would be beneficial but is not essential:
- Previous warehouse, recycling, production or waste-management experience.
- Experience loading and unloading commercial vehicles.
- Experience using pallet trucks or other warehouse equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical equipment or computer components.
