About us
Apex Insurance Brokers is an independent, FCA-authorised commercial broker with offices in Bristol and Weymouth. We act for professional firms across the UK, with a particular strength in professional indemnity and a concentration of clients across the South West. We are small enough that you will own your client relationships from day one and established enough to give you the insurer and MGA access to do the job properly.
The role
You will manage and grow a portfolio of professional indemnity clients across a range of professions, including accountants, solicitors, engineers, IT consultants, design and creative firms, and regulated financial advisers.
This is a client-facing role with real ownership. You will handle your own renewals, negotiate directly with underwriters, and be the person your clients actually call.
Day to day you will:
- Manage a portfolio of PI clients through the full renewal cycle
- Prepare submissions and negotiate terms with insurers and MGAs
- Advise clients on cover, limits, exclusions and claims notification
- Handle mid-term adjustments, new business enquiries and cross-sell opportunities
- Keep accurate records and meet our FCA conduct and Consumer Duty obligations
What we are looking for
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years' experience broking professional indemnity insurance
- Working knowledge of the PI market and the main carriers and MGAs
- Confident negotiating directly with underwriters
- Strong written and verbal communication with clients
- Comfortable working to FCA conduct standards
Desirable:
- Experience across wider commercial lines
- Experience with OpenGI or a comparable broking system
