About Us
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Finance Services following an internal promotion and secondment of the postholder. We are looking for a motivated and talented individual to join our Children's Services Finance Team on a temporary contract for two years.
Reporting to the Senior Finance Officers, you'll become part of a supportive and professional team that plays a vital role in delivering high-quality financial services across the Council.

The successful candidate will play a key role in providing accurate, insightful and robust financial information that supports the Council's statutory responsibilities and critical business functions. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects staff to share this commitment.
You'll be involved in a wide range of financial activities, including budget monitoring, forecasting and the year-end closure of accounts, working closely with colleagues across Children's Services.
Key Responsibilities
In this varied and rewarding role, you will:

Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the Council.

Support the monthly budget monitoring process, including maintaining staffing establishments and producing accurate financial information through complex Excel-based analysis.

Assist with the closure of accounts, including preparing accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.

Provide financial advice, guidance and training to managers and stakeholders.

Prepare, review and verify financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Work flexibly to manage competing priorities and meet service requirements.

Deputise for Senior Finance Officers when required.
