JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Purpose: To be a part of a small, proactive support team, providing intensive floating support to tenants aged 18-65 in our outreach supported accommodation properties in Luton; as well as managing a small caseload within our supported accommodation scheme. Working with tenants who frequently have a history of entrenched rough sleeping, offending, substance misuse and poor mental health, you will work in a trauma informed way to build effective relationships, tailoring support to the individual and focusing on goals and aspirations rather than needs and issues, to enable residents to progress to sustainable independence.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

To work collaboratively with the LBC Partnership Resettlement Coordinator and other stakeholders to identify and place eligible tenants through the rough sleeper pathway.
As part of the RSAP funding initiative, you will work with people who are either rough sleeping or have a history of rough sleeping and in emergency accommodation at the point of referral.
At move-in, support with setting up utilities, budgeting, maintaining neighbourly relations et Help tenants to personalise the property (soft furnishings etc.) to encourage ownership.
Provide intensive, wrap around floating support to those who have experienced rough sleeping to help sustain tenancies in our outreach properties.
Work with the Housing Officer to ensure rent accounts are up to date and supporting tenants to budget effectively and prioritise rent in their spending.
Work closely with the Housing Skills Coaches to enhance life skills that will optimise chances of success in tenancy sustainment.
Support tenants (at their own pace) to improve health outcomes by engaging with specialist services and develop pathways with community groups to promote a sense of belonging.
Identify when tenants are ready to move on to independent or stage-2 accommodation and support them with the transition. Provide up to 12 weeks’ follow-on support.
Ensure that the voices of service users are consistently sought to enable them to shape service delivery
Perform appropriate health & safety checks, risk assessments, safety plans and maintain accurate records
Be part of an out of hours’ service on a rota basis with the team to support the residents
To adhere to and operate within the rent arrears and voids policy and procedures minimising voids and maximising income, where applicable

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Communicate effectively with external professionals working with tenants, attending meetings where necessary.
Be instrumental in promoting excellent safeguarding practices in conjunction with Local Authority and IMPAKT Housing & Support safeguarding policies.
Ensure full understanding and operation of In-Form Hostel Management System and ensure client details are updated as appropriate.
Participate fully as a member of the team to ensure that services are provided and maintained to a high standard.
Be flexible to the changing needs of the organisation and its service users.
Abide by the organisations staff working policies and procedures.
Promote the aims, purposes, mission and services delivered by the organisation.
In addition to the duties set out in this job description the post holder may at times be required to undertake additional or other duties to meet the needs of the organisation.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Experience of:

Working with vulnerable people with complex needs

Working with people who have experienced rough sleeping

Helping vulnerable people to manage their needs and working with them to

identify strengths and develop life-skills.

Experience and knowledge of resettlement process and Housing Options

Person-centred support and safety planning using a strengths based approach

Knowledge of relevant housing legislation and local authority policy

Partnership working.

Qualifications:

Minimum NVQ Level 2 in working with people at risk who are homeless, or

equivalent NVQ Level 2 in social care, support services etc.

Evidence of CPD

Skills & abilities:

Good analytical skills to assess needs and establish effective support of

residents. Competent in risk assessment/ safety planning

Ability to build supportive relationships with tenants whilst maintaining

professional boundaries

Ability to work as part of the team, but also on own initiative and, often

unsupervised

Excellent record keeping and writing skills to keep accurate case notes and

record progress

Ability to use Information and Communication Technology and to learn

housing specific software applications

Good written and verbal communication skills and the capacity to engage and

communicate with individuals at all levels

Knowledge:

Understanding of the impact of trauma and ability to work in a trauma informed way

A sound understanding of the experiences and issues facing those who have

experienced homelessness

Good understanding of safeguarding and what constitutes abuse

Knowledge of skills necessary for people to sustain independent tenancies

Knowledge of local Communities, and voluntary organisations and agencies

General:

Highly committed to improving the lives of those who have experienced

homelessness and helping them achieve successful resettlement

Full driving licence and use of a car

Ability to work flexible hours including being part of the on-call rota

Work within the boundaries of IMPAKT policies and procedures

Willingness to develop within the job and undergo relevant training

Friendly personality with a good sense of humour
