Harrogate Convention Centre (HCC) is one of the UK’s leading event venues, offering 13,700m² of flexible event space, a 2,000-seat auditorium, and the iconic Grade II listed Royal Hall. We host a diverse range of conferences, exhibitions, productions, and live events - each with unique requirements. Our Venue Presentation Team plays a vital role in delivering exceptional experiences for our clients and visitors.
The Role
We are looking for a proactive and reliable Housekeeper to help maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety across our venue. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. Supporting our 24/7 operation, you will be responsible for ensuring both public and back-of-house areas remain clean, safe, and presentation-ready at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular cleaning inspections across all areas of the venue to maintain excellent presentation
- Respond quickly and independently to cleaning needs as they arise
- Complete planned cleaning tasks in line with rotas and schedules
- Manage unplanned cleaning tasks promptly including spillages, accidents, and adverse weather impacts
- Maintain and replenish consumable items across kitchens, toilets, and public areas
- Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies and proactively report replenishment needs
- Safely operate a range of cleaning equipment, from basic manual tools to specialist machinery
- Conduct routine safety checks on equipment and ensure strict compliance with COSHH regulations
- Support event changeovers, handling waste removal and ensuring fire exits remain clear
- Assist in supervising, supporting and motivating casual and contract cleaning staff
- Provide on-site guidance and basic task training for temporary team members
What You Will Bring
You will bring a friendly, customer-focused attitude and a proactive "can-do" approach to the team. Confident and adaptable, you can work independently or collaboratively while staying calm and effective under pressure. You are reliable, possess excellent timekeeping skills, and are physically comfortable executing hands-on manual tasks. Good written and verbal English communication skills are essential, along with a solid baseline understanding of health, safety, and COSHH compliance
