Due to continued growth, MAX Automotive Group Ltd is looking for an experienced Light Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join our workshop team.
We operate a busy, growing automotive business supporting private customers, fleet operators, leasing companies and commercial customers.
We're looking for a competent technician with a proven track record who takes pride in their work, can diagnose faults properly and is capable of working efficiently without constant supervision.
This is a permanent workshop-based position primarily working on cars, vans and light commercial vehicles.
The Role
Your work will include:
- Routine servicing and scheduled maintenance
- General mechanical repairs
- Diagnostics and fault finding
- Electrical fault diagnosis
- Brakes, suspension and steering
- Timing belts and timing chains
- Wet belt replacements
- Clutches
- Engine repairs
- Cooling system repairs
- DPF, EGR and emissions-related diagnostics
- Air-conditioning diagnosis and repairs
- MOT preparation and repairs
- Manufacturer scheduled maintenance
- Vehicle health checks
- Accurate completion of digital inspections and job cards
- Identifying and reporting additional work
Proven Experience Required
This position requires a proven professional track record as a Light Vehicle Technician / Mechanic.
We're looking for someone who can be given a job and trusted to diagnose, repair and complete it correctly.
You should have strong experience in:
✓ Servicing and maintenance
✓ General mechanical repairs
✓ Diagnostics and fault finding
✓ Timing belts and chains
✓ Wet belts
✓ Clutches
✓ Brakes and suspension
✓ Electrical fault finding
✓ Modern diagnostic equipment
✓ Following manufacturer repair procedures
✓ Correctly identifying additional work
Diagnostic ability is particularly important to us.
We're not looking for someone who simply replaces parts until the fault disappears. We want technicians who understand how to test, diagnose and repair vehicles correctly.
£10 Productivity Bonus
We believe productive technicians should be rewarded.
In addition to your basic hourly rate, we operate an uncapped productivity bonus paying £10 for every additional productive hour achieved.
The scheme rewards technicians who work efficiently while maintaining high standards.
Quality and first-time fix always come first.
Comeback, rework or incorrectly completed work does not qualify towards the productivity bonus.
The aim isn't to rush jobs — it's to reward skilled technicians who can produce quality work efficiently while helping reduce customer downtime.
Qualifications
Ideally, you'll have:
- NVQ Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
- Full UK driving licence
- Relevant professional workshop experience
An MOT Tester qualification would be advantageous but isn't essential.
EV & Hybrid qualifications would also be advantageous, with further training and development opportunities available for the right technician.
