ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a motivated and confident Fitness & Sales Lead to join the team at The Armoury.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining fitness instruction, reception duties, membership sales and commercial activity. You will play an important part in creating a welcoming experience for members while helping the club grow its membership and income.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, comfortable speaking with new and existing members and able to take ownership of their responsibilities without needing constant direction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales and commercial activity
- Respond to membership enquiries and follow up prospective members.
- Conduct club tours and explain the available membership options.
- Convert enquiries, appointments and walk-ins into membership sales.
- Complete regular prospecting activity through calls, emails and local outreach.
- Follow up outstanding leads consistently.
- Support paid-in-full and annual membership renewals.
- Assist with debt collection and outstanding membership payments.
- Identify opportunities to generate additional income.
- Maintain accurate sales and prospecting records.
- Work closely with the General Manager to support monthly sales and income targets.
Fitness and member experience
- Deliver high-quality gym inductions and fitness sessions.
- Provide approachable gym-floor support to members.
- Help new members feel confident using the gym and its equipment.
- Build positive relationships with members and support their continued engagement.
- Assist with gym challenges, events and member activities.
- Deliver group exercise classes where appropriately qualified.
- Maintain a visible and professional presence throughout the club.
Reception and club operations
- Provide a friendly and professional welcome at reception.
- Process memberships, payments and general member enquiries accurately.
- Complete opening and closing duties when required.
- Carry out scheduled operational and health and safety checks.
- Maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness and professionalism.
- Follow Jubilee Hall Trust’s policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements.
- Support the wider team with the day-to-day operation of the club.
ABOUT YOU
Essential
- Confident and approachable, with strong communication skills.
- Previous experience in sales, customer service or a target-driven environment.
- Comfortable speaking to prospective members in person, by telephone and by email.
- Able to work proactively and take ownership of tasks.
- Organised, reliable and able to manage competing responsibilities.
- Willing to complete a Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification by the end of the probationary period if not already qualified.
- Able to work a varied rota, including opening, closing and weekend shifts.
Desirable
- Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification.
- Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.
- Experience working within a gym or leisure environment.
- Group exercise qualifications or teaching experience.
- First-aid qualification.
- Previous experience with membership sales, lead follow-up or income generation.

Pay: £26,644.80 per year
