About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Child Support Worker to join our team. You will work directly with children, young people and families to provide practical, emotional and advocacy support that helps keep children safe, stable and thriving.
This is a frontline role focused on building trusting relationships, assessing needs, and connecting families with the right services so that children can remain safely at home whenever possible.
Key Responsibilities
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children, young people and their families
- Carry out needs assessments and contribute to support plans
- Provide practical and emotional support (home visits, advocacy, mentoring, crisis response)
- Work closely with social workers, schools, health professionals and other agencies
- Maintain accurate case records and contribute to risk assessments
- Promote the voice and rights of the child in all decision-making
- Support family contact arrangements and supervised contact where required
- Participate in team meetings, case reviews and multi-agency discussions
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Experience working with children, young people or families (paid or voluntary)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to remain calm, professional and non-judgemental in challenging situations
- Good written and organisational skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (or equivalent local requirement)
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
Desirable
- Relevant qualification (e.g. Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care, Youth Work, or equivalent)
- Experience in child protection, family support or residential childcare
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and safeguarding procedures
