Job Purpose:
The HSEQ Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) management systems within an agricultural machinery manufacturing environment. The role ensures compliance with applicable legislation, company policies, and industry standards while promoting a proactive culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.
Working closely with production, engineering, warehouse, maintenance, and office teams, the HSEQ Coordinator helps minimise operational risks, improve product quality, and drive continuous improvement across the business. The role plays a key part in maintaining a safe, compliant, environmentally responsible, and quality-focused manufacturing operation, contributing to employee wellbeing, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and the successful manufacture of high-quality agricultural machinery.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits across manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, welding, paint, warehouse, and office areas.
- Assist with risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintain accident and incident records in accordance with company procedures.
- Monitor corrective actions to ensure completion.
- Coordinate safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Support emergency preparedness activities i.e. fire drills and evacuation procedures.
- Monitor contractor safety and permit-to-work systems.
- Assist with PPE selection, monitoring, and compliance.
- Ensure statutory inspections and safety documentation remain current.
Environmental
- Support compliance with environmental legislation and company environmental objectives.
- Assist in monitoring waste management, recycling, emissions, energy usage, and pollution prevention initiatives.
- Coordinate hazardous waste disposal and environmental records.
- Help identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact across manufacturing processes.
- Support environmental audits and inspections.
Quality
- Support the maintenance and improvement of the Quality Management System.
- Assist with internal quality audits and external certification audits.
- Monitor non-conformances and coordinate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support root cause investigations using recognised problem-solving techniques.
- Assist with customer complaints and supplier quality issues.
- Ensure controlled documentation is maintained accurately.
- Promote continuous improvement activities across production processes.
- Monitor quality KPIs and prepare reports.
Compliance & Management Systems
- Maintain HSEQ documentation, procedures, forms, and records.
- Support compliance with ISO management systems, including ISO 9001 – Quality Management, ISO 14001 – Environmental Management and ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety Management
- Assist with external audits and regulatory inspections.
- Monitor compliance requirements and communicate changes to relevant depts.
- Coordinate corrective actions arising from audits.
Training & Communication
- Assist in delivering HSEQ induction training for new employees.
- Coordinate refresher training and competency records.
- Promote HSEQ awareness through communications, campaigns, and toolbox talks.
- Support supervisors in implementing safe working practices.
Reporting
- Produce weekly and monthly HSEQ performance reports.
- Monitor key performance indicators including Accident Frequency Rate, Near Miss Reporting, Audit Completion, Quality Defects and Environmental Performance.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards)
- Internal Auditor qualification (preferred)
- Good understanding of ISO management systems
- Full UK driving licence
Essential Experience
- Previous experience in an HSEQ, Health & Safety, Quality, or Compliance role.
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, or industrial environments.
- Knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and workplace inspections.
- Experience investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions.
- Experience maintaining management systems.
