Hudson MOT Centre & Garage is urgently looking for a reliable and hardworking person to join our busy garage and tyre shop in Harehills, Leeds.
This position would suit an entry-level mechanic, tyre fitter, garage assistant or practical handyman who has basic experience working with vehicles and is willing to learn.
You do not need to be an expert mechanic or MOT tester. Training and guidance can be provided to the right person.
Main Duties
- Removing, fitting and changing vehicle tyres
- Wheel removal and refitting
- Checking tyre pressures and tyre condition
- Assisting with puncture repairs
- Helping mechanics with basic vehicle repairs and servicing
- Carrying out basic vehicle checks
- Changing bulbs, batteries, wiper blades and other simple components
- Keeping tools, equipment and the workshop organised
- Moving vehicles safely around the garage
- Assisting with general garage and maintenance work
- Supporting the MOT centre and tyre-shop team when required
The Ideal Candidate
- Has some basic mechanical or tyre-fitting experience
- Is practical and comfortable using tools
- Is hardworking, reliable and punctual
- Is willing to learn new skills
- Can work independently and as part of a team
- Takes care when working with customers’ vehicles
- Has a positive and helpful attitude
- Can start immediately or at short notice
A driving licence would be helpful but is not essential.
Previous experience in a garage, tyre shop, body shop, vehicle recovery business or similar environment would be beneficial. However, applicants with basic practical skills and a genuine willingness to learn are also encouraged to apply.
