Description
Are you looking to launch your career in media production, sales support, and business administration? Local Directory Magazines is seeking an enthusiastic, tech-minded Apprentice to join our close-knit office team in Amersham.
This is a dynamic, hands-on apprenticeship where you will gain a nationally recognized Level 3 Business Administrator qualification while playing a core role in publishing 17 monthly community magazines and actively supporting our sales pipeline. You will receive full workplace mentoring alongside structured off-the-job training provided by an accredited training provider.
Key Responsibilities & Learning Outcomes:
Sales Support & Lead Generation
- Prospect Research: Identify and research local businesses, trade services, and potential advertisers across our publication areas.
- Pipeline Administration: Build, clean, and enrich prospect contact lists inside our in-house CRM to feed qualified leads to the sales team.
- Outreach Support: Assist with introductory email campaigns, data gathering, and tracking responses to support ongoing ad sales efforts.
Publishing & Software Operations
- Print Production Support: Learn to manage and take 17 monthly print titles through production to tight deadlines.
- Creative Tools: Utilise Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign) to update, adjust, and prepare publication layouts and client artwork.
- Database & CRM: Keep advertiser records, production schedules, and workflow tracking accurate and up-to-date.
Technical Support & Logistics
- IT Troubleshooting: Act as the first point of contact for internal hardware and software issues, diagnosing day-to-day office tech queries.
- Warehouse Assistance: Spend a few days each month in our on-site warehouse assisting with the physical collation, sorting, and distribution logistics for magazines and promotional leaflets.
Entry requirements
What We Are Looking For
- Technical & Research Aptitude: Strong digital confidence, comfort using search tools/social media to find business contacts, and a quick ability to learn new software.
- Communication & Organisation: Clear written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Adaptable & Proactive: A positive, hands-on attitude—equally comfortable researching leads, tweaking design files, or helping in the warehouse.
- Entry Qualifications: GCSE Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 Functional Skills).
Training to be provided
- Formal Qualification: A recognized Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship certificate upon completion.
- Dedicated Study Time: 20% of your paid working hours dedicated to your apprenticeship portfolio, workshops, and off-the-job training.
- Broad Commercial Experience: Practical experience across sales operations, lead generation, digital publishing, IT support, and logistics.
