Up to 12 hours per week depending on requirements. Friday night, Saturday night & Sunday lunchtime part time kitchen porter position. Up to £15 per hour which includes service/tips.
You will require your own transport or able to get a lift to Chignal Smealy which is in the countryside and not on a public transport route.
National Minimum Wage for your age + extra money from tips and service charge left by our guests. This is sometimes called TRONC.
The job
We’re looking for a reliable, hard-working Kitchen Porter to join our kitchen team at the Pig & Whistle, an independent Two AA Rosette restaurant in the countryside just outside Chelmsford.
You don’t need previous kitchen experience, we’ll show you everything you need to know.
The most important things are that you’re reliable, willing to work hard and happy to be part of a busy team.
What you’ll be doing
Your shifts will include:
- Washing plates, pans and kitchen equipment
- Keeping the kitchen and wash-up areas clean and organised
- Emptying bins and dealing with recycling
- Helping with general kitchen cleaning
- Putting deliveries and equipment away
- Helping the chefs with simple jobs when needed
- Shining cutlery
- Making sure the kitchen has clean equipment throughout service
- Working with the rest of the kitchen team to get everything finished at the end of the shift
It can get busy, particularly on Friday and Saturday evenings and during Sunday lunch, so you’ll need to be happy working at a good pace.

Hours
This is a part-time role, mainly covering evenings and Sunday lunch. Exact shifts and hours will be discussed. There may also be opportunities for additional shifts and hours at busy times.
Because of our countryside location, please make sure you can reliably get to and from the restaurant for your shifts.
