HGV Technician
Salary: £42,690.38 per annum + up to £3,000 Depot Bonus
Calne – depot based
Full-time - 2 week Rota - M_F 12:30pm-10:00pm and 6:00am to 3:30pm

Are you an experienced HGV Technician looking for your next challenge? We currently have a fantastic opportunity to work within our Calne depot on a permanent basis. The HGV Technician is responsible for the service and repair of a wide variety of vehicles, prioritising fleet uptime and safety. In this role, you should be highly skilled and able to understand operational and fleet needs. Excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to quality are essential. End user support and customer centricity are at the forefront of the role.

What candidate are we looking for?

The HGV Technician will have a background from within a similar HGV technical role, and proven experience providing vehicle service, maintenance, and repairsHGV

Technical qualification - NVQ Level 3 or City and Guilds equivalent

Experience handling tacho calibrations, repairs, and wheel alignment

Class 2 driving license is preferred

Strong awareness and understanding of Health and Safety practices within a workshop environment

Excellent customer service skills and a professional approach

A great team player who is also comfortable working on their own initiative

Previous exposure to or experience in the Waste/Recycling industry would be great, but not essential

Willingness to undertake specialist training to develop your existing skills and support our specialist assets
The following additional skills would be an advantage:

Experience working with municipal and specialist fleet vehicles

Class 1 driving license

Knowledge of proactive fleet maintenance protocols to reduce Vehicle Off Road (VOR) timeWhat will be your duties?

The HGV Technician is responsible for communicating with workshop management to understand operational requirements
-
Carrying out routine servicing, inspection, maintenance, and electrical or mechanical repair on a wide variety of vehicles

Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical faults efficiently

Performing tacho calibrations, repairs, and wheel alignment checks to required standards

Ensuring all service and repair work complies with VOSA standards and health and safety guidelines

Maintaining workshop cleanliness and ensuring company tooling and equipment are kept to the required standards

Completing all job cards, inspection sheets, and relevant maintenance paperwork correctly and legibly

Participating in dedicated training and development programs provided to support our specialist assets

Working collaboratively with the workshop team to maximise productivity and ensure turnaround times are met effectively
